Sensor Latitude – How Our Cameras See Light
If you’re making big moves with the highlight and shadow sliders when processing, you’re fighting the latitude of your scene. We all know that our camera sensor sees the world differently than our eyes. Our eyes can “see” far more stops of light than out cameras, which is a challenge when we try and capture what we see. Understanding and using latitude effectively helps bridge this gap between how our eyes see and how the camera sees. Taking latitude into consideration when you photograph will help you find better light, understand your exposure choices better, and make processing easier. This mini clinic will help you understand what latitude is, how to choose/create light that works with your sensor, and the effect that ISO has on latitude.
