Behind the Scenes

This is the time of year when you and I are encouraged to identify things in our lives for which we are thankful. You know the drill. However, there are a host of things that have a life and an influence of which we are not normally aware. Behind the scenes, or behind closed doors, if you please. For this blog, for this season of thanksgiving, I want to call to your attention something we all admit to contributing to us but that we just don’t normally think about. I suggest that members of the Brentwood Photography Group take a minute to identify and give thanks for the dozen or so of our number who are on our Board of Directors.

Here is a partial list of the benefits of membership this past year that have resulted from this group’s efforts:

  1. Monthly programs
  2. Sessions of the Mini-Clinic
  3. New member orientations
  4. Outings
  5. Exhibits
  6. Basic photography courses
  7. Members Only Facebook page
  8. Newly-designed website
  9. Regular emails from our President
  10. Regularly scheduled Board meetings that have produced the other 9

And now the opinion of a guy who has either been a member of or very familiar with the Brentwood group for going on 15 plus years now. What we have experienced this past year is new stuff, folks. It smacks of major improvements, not the least of which is individual member involvement.

I for one am thankful for the good people who have contributed to the improvement in my photography and to the enjoyment of my participation in the Brentwood Photography Group. Several are rotating off the Board of Directors effective at the end of December. Why not identify and thank them while it’s on your mind?
