BPG Mini Clinic – April 2019

April 18, 2019 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Lou Outlaw’s topic on Thursday, April 18, will be “Life:Up Close and Personal.” Here, in his own words, is what we will be discussing:

“Documentary photography and street photography are two genres of photo-making that have become highly regarded. Exemplary cases, of images and of the photographers who made them, are not hard to identify: the exhibition of images by Dorothea Lange at the Frist Art Museum, for example… But what is worth documenting? What might motivate a photographer to “document” something? An answer: What is happening in your personal life, very close at hand, that is significant yet has not come to mind as worth capturing for narration as a photo-essay. I’ll offer several examples of documentations from my personal life to spur discussion and, possibly, to encourage using one’s camera to render the taken-for-granted as a story in photographs.”
